The CMWP Uzbekistan review of the fitness industry presents and compiles key figures for each country in the region: Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and Turkmenistan.

The growing interest and trend towards a healthy lifestyle in Central Asian countries are driving the development of the fitness industry in the region. While it may be premature to call the market booming, expert analysts and consultants are observing increased interest from both fitness service providers and users.

The analysis of the Central Asian fitness industry market, conducted by CMWP Uzbekistan experts, indicates that:

  1. currently, there are 209 quality* sports facilities operating throughout the region..
  2. The total area of quality fitness halls in Central Asia is 305,556 sq. m. Of this, Kazakhstan accounts for the largest share at 58%; Uzbekistan at 20%; Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan at 9% each; and Turkmenistan at 3%.

*CMWP Uzbekistan defines quality fitness industry facilities (fitness clubs, gyms, fitness centers) in the developing markets of Central Asian countries as products managed by a professional team and meeting basic technical requirements: presence of changing rooms, showers, ventilation, ceiling height, a range of services not limited to the exercise equipment area, and having its own brand or identity communicated through a website or channel for consumer information.

The CMWP Uzbekistan analysis does not include fitness facilities within hotels where they are part of the infrastructure.
