In March 2026, CMWP Uzbekistan, as part of an international project team including S3V, POMA S.A.S., and MDP, conducted an expedition to the mountainous regions of the Republic of Uzbekistan. The expedition involved on-site inspections and helicopter surveys covering 6 regions of the Republic, spanning a total distance of 1800 km.

Expedition Objective: To assess potential sites and select the most attractive location for the creation of an international-class, all-season mountain resort with a ski component, to be developed under the name "Uzbek-Courchevel."

The delegation included representatives from various companies:

- Pascal de Thiersant, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the French company “Société des 3 Vallées” (S3V), the largest operator of ski resorts in the French Alps;

- Anton Chudaev, Head of the Representative Office of POMA S.A.S. in Uzbekistan, Central Asia, and the CIS. POMA S.A.S. is a global leader in the design, manufacturing, and servicing of ropeway transport systems.

- Marina Smirnova, Head of the Hotel Business and Tourism Department at CMWP.

- Valentina Tkachenko, Project Manager, Hotel Business and Tourism Department at CMWP.

- François Nonnenmacher, Director of Investment Attraction and Business Development at CMWP.

- Simon Gabolde, Project Manager at MDP, a ski infrastructure development company.

The expedition was preceded by extensive desk research and in-depth interviews with key project stakeholders, conducted by CMWP Uzbekistan experts.

The team's work was carried out in close collaboration with representatives from the Ministry of Tourism of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the Cabinet of Ministers, regional administrations, and the directorate of the Zaamin National Park.

The expedition's findings were reported to the Deputy Prime Minister, Jamshid Khodjaev, and the Chairman of the Committee for Tourism of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

Expedition Outcomes:

The total length of the helicopter survey routes was approximately 1800 km, analyzing 16 locations across 6 regions of the country.

The expedition explored territories in the following regions: Tashkent, Namangan, Jizzakh, Fergana (desk analysis), Kashkadarya, and Surkhandarya provinces.

Based on preliminary analysis and field work, 5 priority locations have been identified, possessing the greatest potential for the creation of an all-season mountain resort.

The selection of territories was based on a comprehensive set of criteria.

During the selection and analysis of territories, natural conditions were considered: snow cover, terrain, water resources, and geological risks.

The working group's focused attention is on factors for establishing a successful and popular all-season resort: transport accessibility, population reach, infrastructure availability, human resources, and development constraints.

The expedition provided a comprehensive understanding of the potential of the explored territories and identified one most priority location for further development of the concept, feasibility study, business plan, and master planning of a world-class resort.

The remaining four locations, identified as promising territories for ski resort development, can serve as a starting point for discussions on development plans with potential investors interested in selecting sites for new projects in the Republic's mountains.
