Yesterday, CMWP Uzbekistan hosted colleagues from UN-Habitat: Katja Schäfer, Inter-Regional Advisor for Eastern Europe, the Caucasus and Central Asia, and Karolina Gulordava, Housing and Urban Development Expert, International Consultant of UN-Habitat.
UN-Habitat is the United Nations program for human settlements, with the mission to promote the socially and environmentally sustainable development of cities and to ensure adequate and accessible housing for all.
Ms. Schäfer and Ms. Gulordava shared insights into UN-Habitat's activities in Uzbekistan.
The primary objective of the UN-Habitat team in Uzbekistan is to develop practical recommendations in the field of urban planning and legislation of the Republic for the implementation of state plans to improve urban infrastructure, introduce modern urban planning standards in rapidly growing cities, and support sustainable urbanization.
The main focus of UN-Habitat's work in the country is on supporting the development of the housing sector.
The organization pays particular attention to forming residential projects as sustainable urban products that ensure socio-economic balance by combining housing, jobs, retail, public spaces, and social infrastructure.
This approach promotes the integration of "15-minute city" principles, enhances the quality of the urban environment, and reduces the risks of spatial segregation, the colleagues noted.
At the meeting, CMWP Uzbekistan experts – Denis Sokolov, CEO, Liliya Yeryomenko, Director of the Department of Commercial and Public Spaces, Anna Olevskaya, Marketing and Business Development Director – shared data and market observations for commercial and residential real estate, which CMWP has been conducting since 2017, since the company's presence and participation in market development.
The experts discussed changes in consumer preferences and requirements when choosing housing, the quality of ongoing residential projects, issues of insufficient quality urban environment, and existing state mechanisms for supporting development.
For CMWP Uzbekistan, participation in such professional discussions provides an opportunity to exchange data and practical experience, allows for the comparison of international expertise with local practices, and fosters a more balanced perspective on the development of the real estate market in Uzbekistan.
